And then, all at once, it hits you—time is running out. All those “one day” projects you’ve been meaning to get to… they’re still waiting. Tick, tock… tick, tock… like a clock relentlessly counting down.
I have over 30,000 SLR photos, countless cell phone shots, and an overwhelming number of photo projects still to be organized, sorted, labeled, uploaded, and shared. In many ways, I see these images as part of my legacy—a way to share what I’ve seen and experienced. Maybe—just maybe—someone will find meaning in these images. A fleeting moment frozen in time might stir a memory or evoke a feeling they didn’t expect. A portrait could reveal the spirit of a culture, sparking empathy or curiosity. An architectural detail might inspire wonder at human creativity, or a monument might remind someone of the stories and sacrifices that shaped our world. A travel photo that stirs the desire for adventure in someone else.
Of course, there are regrets and wishes along the way. I wish I’d stayed on top of organizing and labeling everything in Lightroom. I wish I could wave a wand and have every photo come out perfect on the first edit. And sometimes, I wish the pace of camera gear and digital technology would slow down—just enough for me to catch my breath and truly absorb all there is to learn.
But now I am carving out the time to finally dive into these projects—making steady progress, little by little—while still exploring both new and familiar places, and keeping my passions for adventure and photography alive.
